SAINT OMER AND THE REGION

Saint-Omer, city of art and history, welcomes you to discover its architectural heritage and its remarkable monuments, vestiges of its prosperous past. You will enjoy the Cathedral Notre-Dame of Saint-Omer, masterpiece of Gothic architecture. The Audomarois will reveal you its natural treasures: swamps, canals, fauna & flora, that create a unique place of peace and tranquillity, paradise of hikers and fishermen. A few kilometers away, Aire sur la Lys holds marvels: the belfry, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the bailiwick, the collegiate church Saint Peter where the fortifications still testify of the Flemish influence.

THE BOULONNAIS:

a meeting between earth and sea

The Boulonnais holds harbour Activity, City of History and Art and Sea resorts, from north to south of Boulogne, no landscape looks like another. On one side the sea, on the other one some old stones testifying of the rich past. Boulogne sur Mer is the first French fishing port and the first European processing center of products of the Sea. Marked with a strong tradition, Boulogne offers both a historical and architectural heritage to be seen in the High City, surrounded by ramparts. Be revitalized walking along the magnificent beach of Hardelot, with the Dunes of Ecault in the north, and those of the Mount Saint-Frieux in the south. Its golf courses, its beach, its forest have contributed for a long time to the reputation of Hardelot. In the North, spend some time to discover Wimereux, which has always managed to protect the English-Norman architecture of the early 20th century, and has a walk on its seawall, one of the most beautiful of the region. By moving forward into lands, to the very heart of the Nature Reserve of Caps and Marais d'Opal, the city of Desvres, nested in the hilly bocage, is known for its earthenware tradition.
